Projects
Delivering humanitarian aid to the world's poorest communities. Take a look at some of our recent projects.
Starting a sewing career
This woman with seven children was living in an empty shop. She had sewing experience but no machine or supplies. We bought her a sewing machine, supplies and have helped her start a career she can use to feed and educate her children.
Restoring vision
This father with 5 children had his house destroyed in an airstrike during the war. He developed cataracts and was no longer able to drive a rickshaw to provide for his family. Unfortunately he could not get any funding for his cataract surgery for years. His children had to drop out of school and start working to support the family in his place.
Spreading Fortune paid for his cataract surgery, which was a success, and helped him get a rickshaw job. His children are now back in school and he is providing them with food. He said the surgery has given him a new life and he is finally able to see his children's faces again.
Fighting off famine
Many Afghan families were at risk of starving in late 2021 and early 2022. The economic situation in Afghanistan was dire and the poorest could not find food. Stories circulated of families having to sell off children to make ends meet. With the help of your donations, we were able to feed over 50 families at risk for starvation.
Chickens and eggs
Spreading Fortune donated over 250 chickens to over 40 of the poorest families in Afghanistan. These chickens will produce eggs which can be sold to others in the area. Many chickens have died recently in Afghanistan, causing egg prices to spike. With this donation, we hope that these families will be able to begin earning an income in a sustainable way while also increasing supply of eggs to the rest of the community.
Spreading Fortune
Spread some of your good fortune in life to those who don't have any. We help them use it to build a prosperous life for themselves and hopefully do the same for others once they succeed.
